Club Activities FAQs

Q.“May I bring a non-member to an event?”
A.Yes. Guests may join you for Club activities.

Q.“When is the activity charged to my account?”
A.All activities are billed to your account at the end of the month in which your event was held.

Q.“Will I be charged if I cancel my reservation?”
A.If you need to cancel a reservation, you must do so by the stated cancellation date or you will be charged accordingly.

Lodging (Main Club) FAQs

Q.“I need directions.”

Q.“What is check- in time and check-out time?”
A.Check-in is 3:00 pm. Check-out is 12:00 Noon.

Q.“Do you have a toll free reservations number?”
A.Yes: 1-800-957-6667.

Q.“Who can reserve an overnight room?”
A.Members
- Member may make reservations for guests; the guest will be issued a temporary guest card
- Reciprocal Club guests (Need to have a letter of introduction upon arrival).

Q.“Can a reciprocal club guest make a room reservation for a guest?”
A.A reciprocal club guest may make a reservation for a guest if they are staying at the Club at the same time.

Q.“What is the parking rate for overnight guests?”
A.The parking rate for an overnight guest is $20 a day. You may come and go as many times in a day as you wish.

Q.“What are the hours of the front desk?”
A.It is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Q.“What is the closest T stop?”
A.Hynes Convention Center, on the Green line. You can take any car on the line
EXCEPT for “E”.

Catering (Main Club) FAQs

Q.“I need directions to the club”.

Q.“What are the parking charges?”
A.$3.50 per hour. Maximum Day: $18.00. Maximum Night: $13.00.

Q.“Do I need a sponsor?”
A.All private events must be sponsored by a member of the Harvard Club of Boston. Reciprocal members are welcome to host events at the club (pre-payment is required).

Q.“Can I bring an outside caterer?”
A.Only a kosher caterer can be brought in. The Club has a preferred vendor for this service. The Club must be closed in order to do a kohser event for over 60 people.

Q.“Can I bring in my own wine/liquor?”
A.No food or beverage may be brought in or taken out of the club.

Athletics (Main Club) FAQs

Q.“How do I begin an exercise program at the Club?”
A.Simply call the Athletics Department at (617) 450-4400 or stop by to discuss your fitness goals. The Staff will be happy to create a workout program for you.

Q.“What is the difference between a Squash and Fitness membership?”
A.Squash membership includes unlimited use of squash courts, the fitness center, aerobics and the use of a locker. Fitness membership includes unlimited use of the fitness center and aerobics (lockers available at a reduced rate).

Q.Do you have professional staff at all hours?
A.Yes, we have Certified Exercise Specialists available at all times for assistance. In addition, our Squash Pro is available for lessons and clinics.

Q.“What are your hours of operation?”
A.Monday – Thursday: 6:00am - 9:30pm
Friday: 6:00am - 8:30pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Summer Hours:
Saturday: 8:30am-1:00pm
Sunday: 1:00pm - 6:00 pm

Q.“What amenities are offered at the Harvard Club Athletic Department?”
A.The Men’s Locker Room features a jacuzzi and a steam room. The Women’s Locker Room features a stream room and a sauna. Both are equipped with showers, laundry service, lockers, towels, and all shower amenities.

Q.“ What types of cardiovascular and strength training equipment do you have?”
A.The cardiovascular room features:
- 5 Lifestyle Recumbent Bikes
- 3 Upright Bikes
- 5 State of the Art Treadmills
- 4 Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainers
- 4 Stairmasters
- 2 Concept II Rowers
- Full Circuit Nautilus and Body Master strength training equipment
- Free-weights, Cable Cross-over, True-Stretch station, Smith Machine and Power Rack
- Basketball (converted squash court, single hoop)
- Recreational Boxing Apparatus: Heavy Bag and Speed Bag Platform
- Natural Runner

Q.“Do you offer special classes such as aerobics?”
A.Yes, we offer Aerobics, Muscle Conditioning (MC), Low Impact, Yoga and Pilates.

Q.“Are there Personal Training Sessions Available?”
A.Yes, there are trainers available for individualize personal training sessions. Please contact the Athletic Department for details.

Q.Are squash lessons available?
A.Our squash pro is available for lessons whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player. Please contact the Squash Pro for details at (617) 450-8481.

Q.What’s the best way to meet new players?
A.The best way to meet new players is either through the in-house league, or the player partnering service. For more information, contact the Squash Pro at (617) 450-8481.

Q.“What is your address?”

A.Downtown Crossing, Park Street, Government Center, South Station.

Q.“How long does it take to get to the Club from Logan airport?”
A.20 minutes.

Q.“Is parking available and can I charge it to my account?”
A.Yes, there is a garage in the building, and you may place the charges on your club account.

Q.“What is the dress code?”
A.Business Casual

Q.“Are you open on weekends?”
A.We are open on weekends for special functions such as weddings, receptions, etc.

Q.“What is the Club’s seating capacity for a wedding or reception?”
A.· 180 - wedding/dinner dance
· 400 - stand-up cocktail reception

Q.“Is your catering done in house?”
A.Yes, Executive Chef Erik LaCross heads the Culinary Staff.

Q.“Do you serve dinner?”
A. Yes, in the Crimson Pub: Mondays & Tuesdays until 8 pm, and Wednesdays through Fridays until 10 pm (except holidays).

Reciprocal Club FAQs

Q.“Do all Reciprocal Clubs have the same facilities?”
A.Clubs facilities vary --- please see the Reciprocal Club list.

Q.“Are members allowed to bring guests to a Reciprocal Club?”
A.It depends on the individual Club -- most of our reciprocal clubs permit guests if they are accompanied by a Harvard Club of Boston member. Please contact the Reciprocal Club directly for more information.

Q.“Is there a minimum age requirement for visiting a Reciprocal Club?”
A.You must be 21 years of age and a member in good standing to visit a reciprocal club. Dependents under 21 years are allowed access when accompanied by the primary members over age 21.

Q.“Can Reciprocal Club expenses be charged to my account?”
A.Payment options vary. Most clubs request payment upon checkout, however it is best to check with the individual club.

Membership FAQs

Question: “Who can join the Harvard Club of Boston?” -- Answer:
- Any person who has obtained a degree or honorary degree from Harvard University or Radcliffe College.
- Any person more than 18 years old who is enrolled as a regular full time student in Harvard University.
- Any person currently on the faculty of Harvard University.
- Any person currently holding a Harvard appointment to any of the Harvard teaching hospitals.
- Any person who has completed selected Board approved Programs at the University.
- LEGACY PROGRAM: The children and grandchildren (of current Harvard Club of Boston members) who are 21 years of age or over are also eligible for membership to the Club. They may be related by blood, adoption, or marriage. They will pay the regular initiation fees and dues that pertain to their age (at time of application) and/or college class, and the location of their residence.

Q.“Is a spouse membership included with the regular membership?”
A.Yes, spouses of members have full signing privileges and may use all of the facilities and reciprocal clubs. If a spouse wishes to have his/her own membership number with separate billings this can be arrange for a nominal maintenance fee of $100 annually.

Q.“How are the dues structured?”
Membership dues are structured based on:
A.The number of years since graduation from an undergraduate college (Harvard or otherwise) and
- The distance you live or work (whichever is closer) from the Club facilities.

Q.“Do non-resident members have the same privileges as resident members?”
A.Yes - Non-resident members have all the same privileges as resident members.

Q.“Do membership dues cover athletic facilities or occasional use of the Athletic Facilities?”
A.There is a separate fee for athletics -- you may sign up for a Squash season pass, which includes the Fitness Center or a just a Fitness season pass. For anyone who wishes to use the athletic facilities on an occasional basis, there is a $20 charge per person, per day.

Q.“What type of programs do you offer?”
A.The Harvard Club offers a calendar of events designed to appeal to all of our members.

Q.“How do I join the Harvard Club of Boston”?
