HARVARD CLUB OF BOSTON ANNOUNCES NEW FISCAL 2013 DUES STRUCTURE

August 26, 2012

If you’ve been following reports on our strategic planning efforts over the past year, you know that we’re currently reviewing a number of capital improvement strategies for both Clubhouses.

We are making changes that will improve our financial position, streamline our governance structure, and reduce the Club’s carbon footprint. Setting dues, of course, is a big part of the governance responsibilities of the Board of Governors.  As promised, we’ve revamped and simplified the dues structure, primarily to make it easier for younger members to enjoy our many benefits.

Beginning September 1, Harvard Club of Boston membership dues will be set by age, not by the time since graduation from college. Our youngest member category will be through age 25, then a next tier for individuals 26 through 30 years old, and a third younger member category for members who are 31 through 35 years old. Full resident and nonresident membership now begins at age 36. Our senior resident membership category remains unchanged and begins at age 70 as it always has.

The Club has also instituted minimum spending requirements for younger members in our 26 to 30 year old, and 31 to 35 year old categories, with modest quarterly spending totals beginning on September 1. This program allows us to lower our dues for younger members, and is also intended to encourage people to visit the Club more often and learn about our many offerings. Note that there is no minimum spending requirement for full residents, seniors, all non-residents, students, or members 25 years of age and younger.

Below is a summary of our new dues rates, and a description of the new minimum spending program for younger members.
